It had not been long after our ancestors started using fire that they discovered the transformative effects of heat and smoke on meat: flavouring, tenderising and preserving it. Maybe it’s the elemental process, meat and smoke that drives a primeval  attraction to BBQ and smoked foods—whatever it is, we here at the Hickory Inn just cant get enough.

We start at the beginning here; using raw ingredients to produce everything from our ketchups & stocks to our burgers & steak sauces!! No corners are cut, and we pride ourselves on our dedication to produce authentic slow cooked American smokehouse classics.

Halberton is set in a beautiful rural location as part of the Grand Western Canal Country Park, perfect for a days cycling with the family or roaming the countryside with the dog.  Walk the beautiful 2 mile 'Swansneck' loop around Halberton and finish with us to quench your thirst and grab a weekend lunch at our dog friendly pub. We are easily accessible from Tiverton, 4 miles away, by either car or cycle the canal! We also have a close connection to J27 on the M5 - just head on through Sampford Peverell to find Halberton!
